 |
| |
| |
| The major problems when anchor next the city are small waves and the noise caused by other vessels. The small tides are formed by motorboat which come and go out from the marines and, the noise comes mainly from the traditional “baleeira”. |
| |
| If you don’t want to stay in any available marines in this bay, there are two options of anchorage nearby city port or in front of Canta Galo Beach. The ground is mud and good firmness. |
| |
| OVERNIGHT |
 |
| City Port: sailboats should not overnight fast in port, first because they don’t have enough draft and second because they would be squeezed by scooters and other fishing and tour boats. It should anchor outside the “poitas” spread nearby port, being careful to avoid closing the passage channel of the boats coming and going out the port. |
| |
| Canta Galo Beach: many sailors who are spending a season in Paraty live with their boats in front of this beach, being frequent the Hawaii party – luau promoted by sailors where each one takes food and drinks to the beach. |

|
| Anchorage in marine (Boa Vista Bay) |
| |
| Bom Jardim Bay |
 |
| |
| |
| The whole Bom Jardim Bay is an excellent shelter for overnight. Besides of being sheltered from the winds and waves, it has a mud ground, allowing a good firmness for the anchor. The Tapera beach in the east part of the Bay is the most sheltered place. At Tapera Beach there are ruins of an old fortress, even with cannon pointed to the sea. |

| |
| JURUMIRIM BAY |

| |
| There are several options of anchorage in this bay, all protected from the waves and with mud ground that allows good firmness for the anchor. The anchorage for the bay east, nearby Engenho Bay is the most sheltered from the winds. |
| |

| |
| ENSEADA
DE PARATY MIRIM |
 |
| |
| |
| Completamente abrigada
onde existe alguns barzinhos e a água é
mais transparente. |
| |
situada no outro lado do morro. |
| |
| PERNOITE |
 |
| Caiera:
possui duas praias. A ancoragem pode ser feita próxima
às praias pois há profundidade para
tanto. |
 |
| Ilha
da Cotia: a enseada no lado norte da ilha,
além de bonita, é um excelente abrigo
para embarcações. |
 |
| Espada Velha:
Ancore próximo a última praia, no
 |
| Praia do Calhau:
| |

| |
| MAMANGUA BAY |
 |
|
| |
The Mamangua Bay remembers the Italy format, with its contour similar to a leg with boots. It has around eight kilometers of length by 1,2 Kilometers of width and it is surrounded by mountains in both sides. |
| |
| In the ground of Mamangua Bay there is a great area of swamp, natural habitat of fishes, crabs and mollusks. |
| |
| In Cruzeiro Beach, in front of llha Grande there is the fishermen village and there is possible to buy oysters, sururu and mussels, fishes, squid, octopus and shrimps direct from the fishermen (there isn’t any fish market, you should look for a fisher that has just fished these products and he has not yet taken to the city to be sold). In this village it begins a 40 minutes tracking that takes to Sugar Loaf with a wonderful view for the whole Mamanguá Bay. |
| |
| Other wonderful tour – this should be made by boat or small vessels – its is the navigation by Cairuçu river (in the bay ground, behind Bananal). In the river head the vegetation is typical of swamp, with trees with high roots ad dark water. As it runs up the river, the water is getting clear and with Rain Forest vegetation. |
| |
| Due to geographical characteristics, it occurs wind channeling in Mamanguá Bay. The winds coming from the South East can be so strong, being the unique place relatively sheltered from the wind and the bay is formed by Bananal, in the ground of Mamanguá. |
| |
| BRIEF OF MAMANGUA BAY |
 |
| Overnight: Inlet of Ponta do Bananal (preferably in front of Espinheiro Beach) |
 |
| Restaurant/bar: Zizinho Bar (23o 15,20’S / 044o 37,90’W) |
 |
| Tours: walk up to Sugar Loaf, boat tour by Cairuçu river |
 |
| Danger: stones neaxt Ilha Grande, low depth in the ground of Mamanguá Bay |
| |
| CEDRO ISLAND |
 |
|
| |
| Very beautiful anchorage, protected by a set of islands. It is anchored in front of the beach surrounded by native vegetation and with a simple house. The view for the continent is beautiful too, with São Gonçalo beach in front of mountains of Serra do Mar. |
| |
uns 50 metros a oeste.
e a Ilha do Caroço. |
| |
| BRIEF OF CEDRO ISLAND |
 |
| Overnight: Inlet of Cedro Island |
 |
| Restaurant/Bar: very simple bar in the other beach of Cedro Island and also in Pelada Grande Island. |
| |
| When entering in the small inlet of Cedro Island kee the distance form Lajinha , because a group of stones is extended for 50 meters West. It is not possible cross over the channel formed by Cedro and Caroço Island. |
| |
|
| Anchorage in Cedro Island (in the ground of São Gonçalo Beach) |
| |
| Tarituba Bay |
 |
|
| |
| The Tarituba Bay offers excellent anchorage options, sheltered from the winds and waves. The ground is mud and firm. Within the three main anchorages, all of them in front the beach , the overnight in front of Toque Toque Beach seems to be he most pleasable, because it is the most beautiful beach and it is also far away from the noise of Tarituba village and form BR-101. |
| |
| OVERNIGHT |
 |
| Tarituba Beach: the anchorage is in front the village with the same name. It should let go anchor outside the poitas. At night the village light and the noise of vessels can damage the dream. In the village, there are restaurants, bakery, market and public telephone. |
| |
| Taritubinha Beach: the unique defect of this anchorage is to be nearby in BR 101 highway. |
 |
| Toque Toque Beach: anchorage very pleasable , can launch the anchor next the beach. |
 |
| Danger: To whom comes from Paraty, attention with the slabs Perdida, Funda, Rasa, Sete Cabeças and Feiticeira. To whom comes from Angra dos Reis, attention with slabs Alagada and Meros Do not cross the channel between the Caroço and Cedro island. |
| |
|
| Ancoragem em frente
à praia de Toque Toque (Saco de Tarituba) |
| |
| ARAUJO ISLAND |
 |
|
| |
| There is only one good shelter located in front of Tapera Beach. With vessels with a draft bigger than one meter it is not possible the navigation through the channel formed between island and the continent, due to the low depth. Thus for those who come from Paraty and want to arrive up to Tapera Beach, they must contour the island form the outside. |
| |
| There is a very interesting tracking which surrounds the whole island, including passages by beaches, caverns and landscapes. (see more information in the chapter Paraty for Tourists). |
| |
| BRIEF OF ARAUJO ISLAND |
 |
| Overnight: Tapera Becah (small inlet with beach. Mud ground with good firmness. Try to anchor in the east part of inlet). |
 |
| Restaurant/bar: very simple bar in Pontal Beach (at church side, in fishermen village – access only for vessels with small draft), in Praia Grande (continent) there are small restaurants and grocery store. |
 |
| Tours: walk around the island |
 |
| Danger: low depth between the island and continent |
| |
